Important News
(Jan 2012)
As you may be aware, the area of Fatigue Management within the Road Transport
Sector is currently going through some changes. While it may appear on the
surface that these changes are only minor (Victoria and South Australia), the
impact on our computer program is significant. The program was originally
designed to interpret fatigue regulation, as per policy from the various
jurisdictions. The current rules used in Log Checker are more stringent than
the regulators’ policy interpretation. If a breach in your hours is not raised
in Log Checker 4, you can be confident that you have not committed a breach.
In highlighting these situations, there appears to be a degree of consistency
in the new interpretation of the counting of hour’s policy. This delivers a
degree of commonality; however there are still unique variations across
jurisdictions.
The software platform on which Log Checker was designed is now superseded
technology, and entering a time of diminished support from Microsoft. The
ability to deliver support on this platform has increasing challenges.
We live in a world of instant communication - the introduction of 64 bit
systems, improved communications, mobile phones and internet network coverage.
These have all added a fresh layer of difficulty and opportunity. To build on
these opportunities, a new improved software package is being developed to
replace Log Checker 4, one that will use the Android platform (mobile phones)
and the Web (Cloud). This development will deliver better outcomes for all
users.
The
original designers and owners of the Log Checker 4 program have decided to not
be involved in the program from the 2/1/2012.
This may sound drastic, however we understand that there are still customers
using the software and we are instigating an interim arrangement for support.
The program will still operate effectively using
the older software package, on 32 bit computers.
In the near future a new program will be released by
easynhvas Pty
Ltd. The new program will utilise GPS, improved
software applications and some of the new technologies mentioned above. This
program will deliver all the current benefits of Log Checker.
Advanced modules of the new program will deliver
clear Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and reasonable steps defence outcomes.
The data entry screen for work activity will be a simple stop or start work
option.
After initial loading of the program, (including individual details and
settings), the driver will use a vehicle based mobile phone to enter their
activity. It is planned that these details will be available to
management. (In real time)
The new software will have the ability to store up to 28 days work activity on
the phone, warn the drivers of any potential upcoming breaches and highlight
the requirements for 7 hour breaks, night rest and 24 hour breaches.
Any purchaser or subscriber of the current Log Checker 4
program will be
eligible for a 75% credit when migrating to the new program.
